Soft Light (SOLD)
watercolor 6 x 6"
Here are a few paintings by Casey Baugh, from my workshop in Pasadena. Casey was the instructor, and though I think he is a great painter, his class was disappointing. Mostly because he was an hour late to class and took a 2 hour lunch break every day. So, instead of 6 hours of instruction each day, we had 3. Not very professional.
The first painting is a demo on the first day of class. It is lovely, and is a good likeness of the model.
The second photo is a demo from a computer image. Again, an excellent likeness and very good painting.
My paintings? Eh. Not much to look at. I will work on it though.

Lovely work, Barbara! Thanks for sharing the info on your experience at Casey Baugh's workshop. He is indeed an incredible painter, and I would like the opportunity to take one of his workshops. However, I would feel incredibly shortchanged if he only spent half of the time in class! I hope you and the other students asked for 50% of your fee returned.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary. When I realized we were given only 50% of the instruction we were promised, I did ask for a refund, but have not heard anything, nor do I expect to. I should have known things were squirrely when we were not given a location or supply list until 6 days before the class started. Rather nerve-wracking for those of us traveling a long distance.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend Jeremy Lipking or Joseph Todorovich as comparable painters with a better work ethic and teaching skills.
